Russian troops are trying to block Avdiyivka in order to advance in the Donetsk sector, Oleksiy Dmytrashkivskyy, head of the joint press centre of the Tavriya Defence Forces, has said on the air of the news telethon.
"Avdiyivka and Maryinka remain the most dangerous areas. The enemy is actively storming the positions of Ukrainian troops there, also inflicting fire damage using cannon artillery and rocket artillery, and has started using aviation very actively," he said.
According to him, positional battles are taking place in the Avdiyivka sector, where Russians are trying to block Avdiyivka and capture Maryinka in order to move towards Kurakhove.
"As of today, the enemy has not succeeded in any of the directions. However, having no success on the battlefield, the enemy is shelling the civilian population," Dmytrashkivskyy said.
