The Ministry of Defence of Japan hosted a ceremony to hand over 100 vehicles and 30,000 ready-to-eat food rations to Ukraine for the needs of the Ukrainian army, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has said.
"The first two vehicles are already on their way to Ukraine, the rest will be sent after passing the technical inspection and necessary training," the General Staff added.
Ukraine's Ambassador to Japan Serhiy Korsunskyy stressed that this is the first time in Japan's post-war history that the Self-Defence Forces have transferred military equipment to a state at war.
"More to come," the ambassador added.
In addition to the vehicles, Japan will also take wounded Ukrainian soldiers for treatment. It will also help Ukraine develop innovations and strengthen cyber defence. The other day, the Japanese government announced new sanctions against Russia.
