Another European country has recognised the Holodomor as genocide of the Ukrainian people, the press service of the Ukrainian parliament has said.
"I am grateful to the Slovenian parliamentarians for adopting a declaration that recognises the Holodomor as genocide of the Ukrainian people and honours the memory of the victims of this terrible crime," speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk said.
He stressed that humanity must know and remember this horror so that it does not happen again in the future.
Sixty-seven Slovenian parliamentarians voted in favour of this decision, while eight voted against.
In May of this year, the French parliament also adopted a similar decision.
Last year, in December, the European Parliament recognised the Holodomor. This was followed by Bulgaria, Belgium, and Iceland. Italy is preparing to take this step.
