More than 40,000 Russian troops are currently fighting near Bakhmut. Their daily losses at the front reach more than 100 killed and the same number of wounded, Col Serhiy Cherevatyy, spokesman for the Eastern Group of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, has said, according to RBC-Ukraine.

According to him, the Russians have about 250 tanks, up to 300 artillery pieces and up to 150 MLRS.

"As for the losses, Joe Biden said about 100,000 wounded and killed. Before that, Rear Adm John Kirby also spoke about 100,000, of which, according to him, 20,000 were definitely fatal. Our Defence Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said the losses amounted at 70,000, but perhaps he was talking about a smaller area," Cherevatyy said.

He noted that all these figures are absolutely relevant given the daily losses of Russians: more than 100 killed and the same number of wounded.

"The figure for the last day (21-22 May - ed.) is 120 killed and 144 wounded. This is an average figure. We are talking about Bakhmut and the surrounding area," he said.

Earlier, Cherevatyy said that the Wagner PMC was close to being destroyed in the Bakhmut sector. At the same time, the Ukrainian army is gradually pushing the enemy out on the flanks.
