Lower combat intensity was observed on the Bakhmut flanks on 24 May, but this does not mean the weakening of Russian troops, Ukrainian Deputy Defence Minister Hanna Malyar has said.
"On the contrary, the enemy is trying to strengthen positions on the flanks and relies on artillery fire and constant shelling. Nevertheless, our troops are advancing bit by bit," she noted.
According to Malyar, Russia has cut down on assaults in the town because it is rotating units in the area.
Ukrainian troops are in control of a part of the Litak neighbourhood in the southwestern part of the city, she added.
