The Netherlands will start training Ukrainian pilots this August. The decision to supply modern jets to Ukraine is also close, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced following a meeting with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte. Zelenskyy thanked the Netherlands for support.
"We agreed on a concrete contribution of the Netherlands towards strengthening our air defence and artillery. Thank you for your support on our way to NATO – both in terms of the invitation and security guarantees, in particular on a bilateral basis," he said.
Zelenskyy is holding bilateral talks with allies at the NATO summit in Vilnius today. It has already been reported that Germany will provide Ukraine with additional Patriot air defence systems and missiles, Australia will allocate a new defence package that includes 30 armoured vehicles, and Canada will also help with armour. A meeting with the US president is scheduled.
