Last night Russia attacked Odesa with a total of 19 missiles of various types once again. Among them were Kalibr, Onix, Kh-22, Iskander-K and Iskander-M. Air defences managed to shoot down nine of them, the Operational Command South has said on Facebook.
The port infrastructure and at least six buildings, including apartment blocks, were hit. Many buildings have damaged facades and roofs, broken windows. Cars are also damaged.
As of 11 a.m., one person was reported killed and 22 (including children) were injured, according to the local authorities.
The Transfiguration Cathedral of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) located in one of the city's central streets, as well as two architectural monuments, were damaged. A Russian missile hit the central altar of the cathedral, partially destroying the cathedral building, the ceilings of the three lower floors, significantly damaging the interior decoration and icons, and completely destroying the service rooms of the lower part of the cathedral. Immediately after the hit, a fire broke out, which rescuers quickly contained and extinguished.
Rescue operations are currently underway by the State Emergency Service and public utilities.
