Kyiv's Pecherskyy district court has selected a measure of pre-trial restraint for Servant of the People MP Yuriy Aristov suspected of entering false information into official documents to enable a luxury island holiday in the Indian Ocean, the State Bureau of Investigation has said.
The court released Aristov, who is the deputy chairman of the parliamentary committee on national security, defence and intelligence, on his own recognizance.
Slidstvo Info journalists found out that Aristov was on holiday in a luxury hotel in the Maldives in mid-July. Following the publication, the MP wrote a statement giving up his MP mandate.
The day before, the Security Service of Ukraine and the State Bureau of Investigation conducted searches at his place, and parliament revoked his mandate at a session on 27 July. The same day, Aristov was served a notice of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
