The first US Abrams tanks are already in Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said on Telegram.
The tanks are already being prepared to reinforce brigades. Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to the USA for the fulfilment of the agreements.
"We are looking for new contracts, expanding the geography of supply," he said.
Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko also attended the meeting that sought to sync security efforts. Apart from other issues, it discussed the consequences of the shelling of Odesa Region and the strengthening of air defence.
"Preparing for winter. Prime Minister Shmyhal spoke about protecting critical infrastructure, preparing shelters and Invincibility Points. We are preparing solutions to make their accessibility as simple and quick as possible," the president added.
The United States agreed to provide Ukraine with Abrams tanks in January 2023, when Kyiv called on its allies to reinforce it with heavy weapons for a counter-offensive. It was agreed to provide 31 Abrams tanks.
