The Alliance of Defence Industries was created at the first International Defence Industries Forum, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said during his speech at the opening of the event.
Zelenskyy noted that over 30 countries are participating in the Forum. They are represented by 252 defence companies that produce a full range of weapons, defence systems and solutions.
According to him, a basic declaration has been developed as the basis of the Alliance, which can be joined by manufacturers of weapons and military equipment from around the world. The document has already been signed by 13 companies.
In addition, the President said that Ukraine is developing a special economic regime for the defence industry. "To give every opportunity to realise its potential to every company that works for defence in Ukraine and with Ukraine or that wants to come to Ukraine," he explained.
A special Defence Fund will also be established in Ukraine, Zelenskyy said. The fund will provide additional resources, in particular, for the development of military production and support for relevant cooperation, for the creation of new military facilities and programs that are needed for defence and to take care of our soldiers.
"The fund's resources are a plus to government spending on defence, defence production and private investment. The fund will be replenished from dividends from state defence assets and profits from the sale of confiscated Russian assets," the President said.
