Ukrainian naval sailors are taking part in the Joint Warrior-23-2 multinational exercise, which is being held in the territorial waters of the United Kingdom, the Ukrainian Navy has said.
"For Ukrainian sailors, this week began with participation in the multinational exercise Joint Warrior-23-2, which is being held in the territorial waters of the United Kingdom. The Ukrainian Navy's mine countermeasure vessels Cherkasy and Chernihiv are involved in sea practice," it said.
The Cherkasy and Chernihiv ships and the Ukrainian Navy's Mine Action Tactical Group HQ are taking part in the exercise as part of their comprehensive training under the guidance of mentors from the Royal Navy. The participants include the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force, along with the British Army. In addition to Ukraine, ships and vessels from the Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, Germany, and Denmark are also taking part in the exercise.
"The main goal of the training is to ensure that the crews and staff of the Tactical Mine Action Group are ready to perform their assigned tasks and are interoperable with the mine action units of partner countries. In addition, they are practising planning and conducting mine action in accordance with NATO standards. The goal is to gain experience in the international environment during joint multinational operations," the Navy said.
