Former MP Iryna Farion has been fired from her position as a professor at Lviv Polytechnic National University, LB.ua has learnt from sources in law enforcement agencies.

The reason is Farion's violation of Article 41 of the Labour Code: committing an immoral offence incompatible with the continuation of such work by an employee performing educational functions.

Earlier, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) opened criminal proceedings against a linguist and former MP who stated that she categorically rejected Russian-speaking servicemen of the Armed Forces and could not call them Ukrainians. This caused an uproar among Ukrainian defenders and in society at large. Investigators are currently examining the scandalous statements and publications, as well as her publication of a letter from a student from occupied Crimea.

Earlier, the University commented on her remark about Russian-speaking servicemen, saying it was not responsible for her statements outside the university.

Students staged protests against Farion's scandalous remarks. Dmytro Lubinets, also reacted to the language scandal.
