The new British Foreign Secretary David Cameron, who was appointed on 13 November, has arrived in Ukraine. The trip was Cameron's first foreign visit to Ukraine as Foreign Secretary, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

"David Cameron, Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs and Development, made his first working visit to Ukraine in his new post. A good meeting. Weapons for the frontline, strengthening air defence, protecting our people and critical infrastructure. I am grateful to the UK for its support!" Zelenskyy wrote.

Cameron also met with the Ukrainian Prime Minister. Denys Shmyhal's press service reported on Telegram that the talks focused on military, financial, and sanctions support.

"Special attention was paid to the issue of confiscation of frozen Russian assets for the needs of Ukraine's recovery. We also discussed support for Ukrainian exports. In particular, war risk insurance. It is symbolic that it is with British companies that the Government of Ukraine has created a new ship insurance mechanism. We look forward to developing cooperation in this area," the statement said.

David Cameron is the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (2010-2016). This Monday, PM Rishi Sunak suddenly returned him to the Cabinet as Foreign Secretary, after the previous one, James Cleverly, moved to the post of Home Secretary.

Cameron expressed support for Ukraine in his first post after his appointment. He said that the war in Ukraine was an international challenge and that it had rarely been more important for Britain to support its allies, strengthen its partnerships and make sure its voice was heard.
