Naftogaz CEO Oleksiy Chernyshov has met the newly appointed Ambassador of the United Kingdom, Martin Harris. The meeting focused on the ways of strengthening Ukraine's energy independence, the company's press service has said.

"Today I met the newly appointed Ambassador of the United Kingdom Martin Harris. The main topic of the meeting was cooperation with the British energy sector to strengthen Ukraine's energy independence," said Chernyshov.

Also, during the conversation, Chernyshov noted that for the first time in its history, Ukraine entered the heating season without gas imports.

Ukraine has become an alternative to gas storage despite the risks posed by Russia's military invasion. This is partly because it offered incentives such as cheap storage tariffs and exemption from customs duties for three years, which makes it easy to re-import gas to the EU.
