Experts of the International Atomic Energy Agency, who are at the Zaporizhzhya NPP, say that the Russian army is using the plant as a firing position to deploy MLRS and shell Ukrainian territories, Ukraine's atomic energy company Energoatom has said.

The IAEA representatives heard characteristic sounds similar to the departure of unguided missiles from multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS). Although the IAEA team could not see the missiles due to the clouds, the distinctive sound indicated that they were fired from MLRS near the ZNPP.

"Today's events once again clearly demonstrate the extremely fragile nuclear safety and security situation at the Zaporizhzhya NPP," said IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi. "Europe's largest nuclear power plant located on the front line continues to face many potential threats as a result of this war."

The Russians at the Zaporizhzhya NPP use lubricating oil, which can eventually lead to a nuclear and radiation accident. They also do not comply with a number of technological requirements.
