Another group of Ukrainian soldiers completes Patriot training in Germany

Berlin has announced the completion of a training course for another 70 Ukrainian military personnel on the operation of the Patriot air defence system. Now the Ukrainian military will be able to work independently with this system, Deutche Welle reported, citing the Bundeswehr.

"The Bundeswehr has trained the second group of Ukrainian military to operate the Patriot air defence system. The completion of the training course for about 70 soldiers and officers from Ukraine was announced on Friday, 1 December, by the commander of the Multinational Training Command, Lt-Gen Andreas Marlow," the broadcaster said.

The training course lasted for more than six weeks at one of the air force bases in Germany, which is not publicly named.

"Protecting Ukraine's airspace is the main task, as Russian strikes are deliberately destroying civilian infrastructure in Ukraine," the German general said.

According to Marlow, the level of personnel competence achieved will allow Ukrainians to operate the anti-aircraft missile system independently and, accordingly, perform air defence tasks.

"We have received a lot of tactical advice from the Ukrainians about what they have learnt in their battles with the Russians, from infantry to engineers and air defence," Marlow noted.
