Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Valeriy Zaluzhnyy told RBC-Ukraine that he would not comment on military plans, including the alleged counter-offensive in 2024, as reported by Die Welt.
Recently, the newspaper suggesed that the commander-in-chief was planning a new offensive and that Ukraine had been gathering resources for it. Zaluzhnyy told reporters that he could not say what was being planned.
"This is a war, I cannot say what I am planning, what we have to do. Otherwise, it will be a show, not a war, the price of which is human lives. We cannot talk about this in any case," he said.
Die Welt wrote that Ukraine's plans are evidenced by its request to the United States for helicopters, F-16 and F-18 fighters, Abrmas tanks and missile systems. Die Welt notes that Zaluzhnyy agreed to the summer offensive only for political reasons. According to the publication, the commander-in-chief saw no chance of success without sufficient air support. Therefore, he replaced the offensive with assaults by small infantry groups.
