The State Tax Service of Ukraine has fined the company that owns Pornhub, a pornographic video sharing and viewing website, for non-payment of the so-called Google tax, Danylo Hetmantsev, chairman of the parliamentary committee on finance, taxation and customs policy, has said.
He recalled that the well-known Onlyfans service had already paid $944,100 to the state budget of Ukraine since the beginning of 2023.
"At the same time, the company that operates the PornHub website evades registration, which is why it was fined $5,543," Hetmantsev said.
He added that the tax office sent a notice of the fine to the company and the Canada Revenue Agency.
"Let me remind you that every penny of the so-called Google tax goes to finance the needs of our army, and Ukraine ranks 14th by the number of user views among other countries," the MP ponted out.
Google tax is a 20% VAT that large multinational corporations not registered in Ukraine must pay on revenues from the sale of electronic services: books, films, games, cloud storage, software, advertising, etc.
