International partners will provide Ukraine with several new Patriot air defence systems for winter defence, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said at his annual press conference.
He noted that this is the result of his several foreign visits. He did not name the countries that will help Ukraine with air defence, nor the number of systems.
"I had a serious business trip with my team. Several, I won't say the number, new Patriot systems will be in Ukraine to protect us in winter. I promised not to say the number until they are ready," he said.
- The US Patriot air defence system is the only weapon available in Ukraine that can shoot down certain types of Russian missiles, including ballistic missiles.
- In June, the president said that Ukraine needed 50 Patriot systems.
