The Ukrainian Cobra drone has been put into mass production. The drone costs $2,000, which is cheaper than similar foreign UAVs, the Army of Drones has said.

"The main idea of the project is to reduce the number of people who risk their lives. That is, to replace them with robots, drones," says the development team from Kryvyy Rih.

To reduce the cost of production, the developers decided to use metal rather than composite materials.

According to the BuildingTech website, the body of Cobra drones was created using the same technology as aircraft. This made it possible to significantly increase their speed and reduce the cost, the article says. Although lightweight materials such as wood, foam or composite are also used for production, Ukrainian engineers were able to achieve an advantage by using riveted steel.

"The production of one drone takes only three hours, which is a very fast and efficient process. At the same time, the design of the drone can be changed in a few days to give it a different size, shape or layout," the report said.

The strike drone can cover a distance of 300 kilometres.
