The new Polish ambassador to Ukraine, Jarosław Guzy, has arrived in Kyiv, PAP has reported.
Guzy submitted copies of his credentials to the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine and noted that he was looking forward to the visit of Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski to our country.
The new ambassador is planning to continue doing "all the good things that happened during the war and what the new government plans to implement".
New government in Poland
Last week, Polish President Andrzej Duda swore in the new government of Donald Tusk.
Tusk said that the new government would solve the problems that have recently arisen between Warsaw and Kyiv. In particular, it concerns the blocking of freight traffic on the Polish-Ukrainian border, where thousands of trucks have been queuing for miles on the Polish side.
Who is Jarosław Guzy?
Guzy is a historian and journalist, as well as a sociologist by training. During the communist era, he was active in the opposition, for which he was interned. In the early 1990s, he was an adviser to the then minister of defence, and later became an entrepreneur. His wife is a well-known Polish journalist and CEO of the Belsat TV channel, Agnieszka Romaszewska-Guzy.
Guzy will succeed Bartosz Cichocki, who has held the post of Polish ambassador to Ukraine since February 2019.
