President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that the issue of mobilisation is very sensitive. The military approached him at the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Staff about mobilisation, saying that about 500,000 more people should be mobilized.
Now the issue of mobilisation is being worked out in legislative terms. The president said this at a press conference.
"They contacted me regarding the defence of our state and potential counter-offensive actions. Regarding the shortage. And their view presented at the Staff meeting was to mobilise an additional 450-500,000 people. This is a very serious figure, and I said that I needed more arguments to support this direction. Because this is a matter of people first and foremost, it is a matter of justice, defence capability and finances," he said at a press conference.
Zelenskyy noted that if there is a question of rotation and leave, there should be a comprehensive plan and the mobilisation law should take this into account.
"I have not yet seen demobilisation there, although I believe this is the number one issue," he said.
The president added that demobilisation should be conducted correctly and with great respect for the soldiers.
"Mobilisation in this format will cost Ukraine an additional UAH 500 billion," he said.
