On the morning of 23 December, Polish farmers ended the blockade of the Shehyni-Medyka checkpoint, Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agrarian Policy Michał Kołodziejczak has tweeted.
He noted that Polish farmers had agreed to unblock the border, demanding that three demands of the farmers be implemented as soon as possible:
subsidies for the purchase of corn;
maintaining the agricultural tax at this year's level;
extension of liquidity loans.
"The protest has been suspended, and the three main demands will be met as soon as possible. After the New Year, we will sit down at the table to work out the expected solutions together. This is how an effective Ministry of Agriculture works. Farmers must regain their subjectivity and trust," Kołodziejczak said.
He also blamed the Polish government's policy for the border blockade.
"The basis of the current protests is the irresponsible policy of the government," he said.
