On Christmas Eve, the Russian occupiers attacked southern Ukraine with :Shaheds and missiles. The drone attack lasted 6.5 hours, the Southern Defence Forces reported.
"First, tactical aviation fired X-59 missiles in the direction of Kropyvnytskyy and X-31P missiles in the direction of Chornomorsk in Odesa Region. The air defence units performed well - both missiles were downed," the statement said.
The air defence forces destroyed 22 Shahed-136 attack UAVs:
- 17 in Odesa Region
- 3 in Kherson Region
- 1 in Mykolayiv Region
- 1 in Kirovohrad Region.
"Enemy drones launched from the temporarily occupied Crimea attacked from different directions, trying to deplete our air defences and hit as many targets as possible. The enemy's priority remains the port infrastructure and other facilities important for the region's existence," the statement said.
The wreckage of the downed UAV damaged technical facilities in Odesa's port infrastructure, and in Rozdilnyanskyy district, the wreckage also damaged an inoperable administrative building and a warehouse of a mothballed facility, and the fire was promptly extinguished. There are no injured.
At the same time, there was a hit in Beryslav district of Kherson Region. A fire broke out in a warehouse, which firefighters have already extinguished, the Southern Defence Forces reported.
