Almost 30 states have joined the declaration on long-term security guarantees and economic support for Ukraine, which the Group of Seven countries signed in July 2023, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in his evening video address on 12 January.

"Almost 30 states have already joined the basic agreement of the Group of Seven. And I am grateful to every state, every leader who is already working with us on security. I am grateful to all those who will join this year. And, of course, I thank the United Kingdom and personally Prime Minister Sunak for their primacy and leadership," Zelenskyy said.

He added that the key "security goal is the Alliance". So far, based on the agreement with the UK, work is underway with other partners on bilateral agreements.

"Many people have heard about the exemplary security agreements of the 20th century between the United States and Israel, and some other similar agreements. Now we have formed such a model for our time - this is what gives us confidence now, while we are defending ourselves against Russian aggression, and fixes our strong security positions for the entire period until Ukraine joins NATO," he noted.

On 12 July 2023, members of the Group of 7 signed a declaration on long-term security guarantees and economic support for Ukraine. The signatories will promote reforms in Ukraine that are necessary for NATO membership.
