During the attack on the Russian Il-22 air command post over the Sea of Azov, the Ukrainian military eliminated the aircraft commander, Maj Viktor Klimov, according to the Krymsky Veter Telegram channel.

According to Russian Telegram channels, the plane was landed by the co-pilot, who was wounded. Klimov died during the attack.

On 14 January, the Ukrainian military shot down a Russian A-50 long-range radar detection and control aircraft with the tail number RF-50601 "Red" over the Sea of Azov and damaged an Il-22M11 command and control aircraft.
