The Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Security Service of Ukraine conducted a joint special operation, as a result of which two Russian SU-34 fighter-bombers were destroyed at the Marynivka airfield and two more were damaged.
According to the SBU, the enemy actively uses these multi-functional fighter jets on the front line for bombing, including for dropping guided air bombs.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces Special Operations Forces and the SBU targeted the Russian fighter jets with long-range drones. The attack also caused a fire in the technical and operational part of the enemy airfield, which is a critically important infrastructure of the military facility. It is there that the enemy prepares aircraft for flights, performs their routine maintenance and repair work.
‘Together with our brothers-in-arms, we continue to work on weakening the Russian army's aviation component. Military airfields and aircraft deep behind enemy lines are absolutely legitimate targets for Ukraine,’ the special services emphasised.
- On 1 June, the SBU conducted a special operation called ‘Spider’s Web’, during which about 40 Russian missile carriers were destroyed at various airfields.
The cost of the destroyed equipment amounted to approximately $7 billion.
Later, the head of the special service, Vasyl Malyuk, said that the drones targeted the aircraft's fuel tanks and the side where the missile was located.
