At 6:50 a.m. today in Odesa, law enforcement officers detained Roman Hrynkevych, the fifth member of a criminal organisation that supplied low-quality clothing to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, while he was organising his departure from the country. This was reported by Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin.

"The fifth member of a criminal organisation that supplied the Armed Forces with low-quality clothing worth UAH 1 billion was detained while trying to organise a border crossing," the Prosecutor General said.

According to the investigation, the suspect travelled to Odesa around 17 January and has been preparing to cross the state border and leave the country since then.

On 19 January, at the request of prosecutors, the court granted permission to detain him. The issue of choosing a measure of restraint is currently being decided. The other four suspects are in custody.

SBI head Oleksiy Sukhachov added that Hrynkevych Jr. tried to arrange an illegal crossing of the state border of Ukraine in order to hide from Ukrainian law enforcement agencies in an EU country.

Today, the detainee will be brought to court to have a pre-trial restraint imposed on him.
Later, the SBI released a video of Roman Hrynkevych's detention.
