F-16 fighters have radars and weapons capable of shooting down both drones and missiles, but it needs to be practiced. Yuriy Ihnat, a spokesman for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said this during the telethon, Ukrinform reports.
"There is a lot of talk about how effective F-16s will be. Pilots are practising certain tactics in the airspace to counter both drones and missiles. F-16 fighters have the appropriate radars and aircraft weapons capable of shooting down targets such as drones and cruise missiles, but all this needs to be practised," Ihnat said.
He noted that there is not widespread to intercept these types of air targets. In Ukraine, "a lot of things are happening for the first time".
"This includes work on those Kinzhals, cruise and ballistic missiles. That's why the whole world is watching Ukraine, and that's why we hope that the F-16s will be quite effective," the Air Force spokesman said.
