The High Anti-Corruption Court has imposed a measure of restraint on Serhiy Pashynskyy, head of the National Association of Defence Industry Enterprises of Ukraine, former MP and former acting head of the Presidential Administration.

The court is broadcasting the hearing for journalists in a separate room, they were not allowed into the courtroom, LB.ua reports.

HACC investigating judge Natalya Movchan placed Pashynskyy in custody with bail set at UAH 272.5 million.

He was taken into custody in the courtroom. The term of detention is until 25 April 2024. The ruling may be appealed in the Appeals Chamber.

The SAPO prosecutor requested that Pashynskyy be arrested with the option of bail in the amount of UAH 299.9 million. He cited the reports of covert investigative actions, according to which Pashynskyy allegedly discussed an 840 sq m apartment he had purchased in 2023 and other real estate.

In return, the defence asked that the measure of restraint be denied or another measure that would not involve restriction of liberty be applied.

Soldier Myroslav Hay, former MP Ihor Lapin and Maj- Gen Ivan Lisovyy were ready to stand surety for Pashynskyy.

Pashynskyy's case

The charges relate to the period when he headed the presidential administration and the so-called fuel case of oligarch Serhiy Kurchenko. Investigators believe that Pashynskyy, together with businessman Serhiy Tyshchenko and a number of other related individuals, decided to take possession of 97,000 tonnes of oil products which had been seized from Kurchenko's companies after the overthrow of Viktor Yanukovych's government. The damage to the state was estimated at UAH 967 million.
