In 2024, Ukraine overtook Russia in the production of kamikaze drones similar to Iran's Shahed-131 and Shahed-136. This was announced by Minister of Strategic Industries Oleksandr Kamyshyn on the air of the United News telethon.

According to him, the Ukrainian samples are similar to the Iranian ones "in terms of the amount of explosives they carry, the range, and other technical parameters".

Kamyshyn noted that Ukraine's drone production capabilities are not inferior to Russia's. "As of this year, our ability to produce such drones is no longer inferior to Russia's," he said.

The minister said that Ukraine is also making progress in the production of other types of attack UAVs. "Everything that explodes in Russia is ours," Kamyshin assured.

  • Ukraine and Germany have recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of security and defence. It provides, among other things, for the use of German-made artificial intelligence in Ukrainian drones.
  • The head of the Ministry of Digital Transformation, Fedorov, also said that in 2024 Ukraine would produce thousands of long-range drones capable of conducting deep strikes against Russia. There are also up to 10 companies in Ukraine that manufacture drones capable of reaching Moscow and St Petersburg.
  • In addition, Fedorov said that Ukraine has managed to catch up with Russia in terms of the number of long-range kamikaze drones. In addition, an improved version of the MAGURA maritime drone is currently expected to appear.
