Russians are trying to break through the defences of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and capture the town of Chasiv Yar in Donetsk Region. Heavy fighting is currently taking place in Ivanivske and Bohdanivka.
Ilya Yevlash, spokesman for the Eastern Military Group, said this during a telethon.
"In the Bakhmut sector, the enemy is advancing in the area of Ivanivske and Bohdanivka. The enemy is already fighting within the city. They are actively pulling up reserves and heavy equipment, and are striking with drones," he said.
The spokesman added that the occupants want to develop the offensive on Chasiv Yar and capture it, but the Defence Forces are holding back the Russia's attack.
According to Yevlash, minefields, both anti-tank and anti-personnel, have been set up near Chasiv Yar, as well as fortifications and several defence circles have been built.
