Air defence forces down 21 out of 34 Russian missiles overnight

The Air Force managed to destroy six X-101/X-555 cruise missiles, eight X-59/X-69, Iskander-K and six Kalibr missiles.

On the night of 27 April, Russian army launched a combined attack on Ukraine with missiles of various types. Air defence forces destroyed 21 out of 34 air targets, the Air Force of Ukraine reported.

In total, the Russians used 34 air-, ground- and sea-launched missiles.

In particular: 

  • Nine X-101/X-555 cruise missiles from Tu-95 MS strategic aircraft (launch area Saratov Region - Russia);
  • Nine X-59/X-69 guided missiles (from the airspace of the Belgorod Region and from the Sea of Azov);
  • Two S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles (from the area of Belgorod Region - Russia)
  • Two Iskander-K cruise missiles (from Crimea);
  • Four X-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles from MiG-31K aircraft (launches from the airspace of Ryazan and Tambov Regions - Russia);
  • Eight Kalibr cruise missiles from the Black Sea.

"Fighter aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units of the Air Force, mobile fire groups and electronic warfare equipment of the Ukrainian Defence Forces were involved in repelling the enemy air attack," the statement said.

As a result of the air combat, 21 air targets were destroyed:

  • Six cruise missiles X-101/X-555;
  • Eight X-59/X-69 guided missiles;
  • One Iskander-K cruise missile;
  • Six Kalibr cruise missiles.
