Of the 160 countries and organisations invited to the Peace Summit, fifty have confirmed their participation, reports Yevropeyska Pravda, citing the Swiss broadcaster RTS.

The spokesman for the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs and Sport, Nicolas Bideau, said that the country is "working hard on the diplomatic front to convince those who have not yet announced their participation" and expects about a hundred invited parties to attend.

So far, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, European Council President Charles Michel, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and others have confirmed their participation in the summit.

The Swiss Foreign Ministry says that the conference organisers are satisfied with the responses of the invitees, but expect more.

"The main European countries are present here, but we would also like to have as many countries from the South as possible, because we want an open discussion about all the possibilities and considerations for achieving peace in Ukraine," said Bideau.

The spokesperson also added that Russia was not invited to the event because it expressed its unwillingness to join such an event. However, the Swiss side would like to "launch a process that would involve Russia, so we are in touch with them (Russians - Ed.)".
