The Brovary City District Court of Kyiv Region will start considering Yanukovych's case regarding the shootings on Maidan at 11:00 a.m. on 24 June.
The preparatory hearing in the case against the former president and representatives of his security forces, who are accused of organising the dispersal and shooting of demonstrators on 18-20 February 2014, will begin then, Ukrinform reports.
This was announced by Denys Ivanov, deputy head of the Department for "Maidan Affairs" of the Prosecutor General's Office.
It is noted that the chairman of the panel of judges is Nataliya Sirenko, and Yanukovych's interests are represented in court by lawyer Andriy Domanskyy.
According to the prosecutor, he filed a motion to observe reasonable time limits for the consideration of the case, to which the court did not respond. The reason was that the preparatory hearing was scheduled almost 4 months after the case was submitted to the court on 29 February this year.
Ivanov added that the Brovary City District Court does not have a certified room to hear the secret volumes of the case. In this regard, the court sessions where the secret volumes will be considered will be held in the Kyiv Court of Appeal.
The prosecutor also stressed that there are only three judges in the court who have access to state secrets, and if one of them drops out of the process, the case will have to be heard from the beginning.
Earlier, the Shevchenkivskyy District Court refused several times to consider the case against former President Viktor Yanukovych and members of his security forces. After that, the Kyiv Court of Appeal assigned the case to the Brovary City District Court.
