On 19 June, the European Commission presented the draft EU budget for 2025 in the amount of €188.7 billion.
This is stated on the website of the European Commission.
The budget was increased by almost €72 billion under the NextGenerationEU programme.
The European Commission noted that the draft budget "directs funds to where they can bring the most benefit, in cooperation and in line with the needs of EU Member States and our partners around the world."
The budget also includes funds for Ukraine. In particular, 4.3 billion euros will be available in the form of grants, as well as loans worth 10.9 billion euros.
The EU has allocated funds for security. In particular, we are talking about 784 million euros. Of this amount, €334 million has been earmarked for the Internal Security Fund (ISF), which will fight terrorism, radicalisation, organised crime and cybercrime.
The annual budget for 2025 is to be formally approved by the budget authority by the end of the year.
