The Security Service has collected evidence against five more traitors who fought against the Defence Forces on the eastern front.

This was reported by the SBU.

It is noted that in June this year, the occupiers, together with their accomplices, tried to break through to Siversk and Toretsk in Donetsk Region. At that time, Ukrainian defenders killed almost all the personnel of the aggressor's assault groups, and the rest were taken prisoner.

Among them were four residents of the temporarily occupied part of the Donetsk and Luhansk Regions. In February and March 2022, they joined the occupation groups of the Southern Military District of the Russian Armed Forces.

One of them is a sniper from the 85th separate motorised rifle brigade of the aggressor country. As part of the enemy troops, he took part in the capture of Popasna in Luhansk Region and was later redeployed to the Siverskyy direction.

Two more were a squad leader and a driver from the 4th separate motorised rifle brigade of the Russian Federation troops, who took part in the capture of Syevyerodonetsk.

After that, they stormed the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the areas of Bilohorivka and Zolotarivka in order to break through to Siversk. The fourth traitor was a member of the 132nd separate motorised rifle brigade of the Russian Armed Forces. As a machine gunner, he carried out precision fire on Ukrainian defenders near Toretsk.

Another prisoner of war is a resident of the temporarily occupied part of the Kharkiv Region. In June this year, he went to Moscow, where he signed a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defence.
Then he was assigned to the 59th assault platoon of the 2nd tank regiment of the aggressor country.

After a short training at the training grounds, the traitor was sent as part of an assault group to attack the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near the village of Terny in Donetsk Region. He was taken prisoner there.

SBU investigators served the suspects a notice of suspicion (in accordance with the crimes committed) under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

  • Art. 1, 2 Art. 111 (high treason);
  • Art. 7 of Art. 111-1 (voluntary participation of a citizen of Ukraine in illegal armed or paramilitary groups created in the temporarily occupied territory and/or in the armed forces of the aggressor state).

The offenders face life imprisonment.
