The suspect in the murder of Iryna Farion has been detained in Dnipro, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said. He received the relevant information from the Minister of Internal Affairs.
Hundreds of specialists from the National Police, the Security Service of Ukraine and other services were working to solve the murder. The detainee was an 18-year-old boy.
‘The necessary investigative actions and examinations are underway. I have instructed the Minister of Internal Affairs to present all the details to the public,’ the President said.
Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko added that the detainee is a resident of Dnipro.
‘In preparation for the crime, he rented at least three apartments in Lviv,’ he said.
Investigators are inclined to believe that the shooter was only the executor.
The minister said that the suspect's whereabouts were established thanks to CCTV cameras.
According to Ukrayinska Pravda's law enforcement sources, the man travelled to Lviv by train to commit the crime. He had been preparing for the murder since at least May.
