The General Staff confirmed that the Saky airfield in Crimea, one of the operational airfields used by the enemy to control airspace and launch strikes, was hit.
The consequences of the strikes are being clarified. The General Staff emphasised that the airfield was covered by modern Russian air defence systems, which failed to protect the facility.
‘Last night, units of the Missile Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in cooperation with other components of the Defence Forces, struck at the Saky airfield in the temporarily occupied Crimea as part of a single plan. This is one of the operational airfields used by Russia to control the airspace, in particular the Black Sea, and to launch strikes with air strikes on Ukrainian territory,’ the statement said.
- At night, reports of explosions in Crimea appeared on social media.
- According to the Astra telegram channel, the strike destroyed two radar stations.
- The Saky airfield has been hit before, in particular in winter, when the control centre was hit.
