Russia continues and intensifies its disinformation campaigns to spread panic among Ukrainians.
The National Security and Defence Council's Center for Countering Disinformation said that Russia will continue to spread PSYOP about Ukraine's alleged political and military loss in the war in the near future.
‘It is predicted that the enemy will intensify the campaign of Ukraine's inevitable loss due to a chronic shortage of ammunition, weakening Western support and the occupying army's strategic successes at the front. The emphasis will be on the need to end the war on Russia's terms and restore Western countries‘ ties with Russia,’ the Center for Countering Disinformation said.
Another topic that Russia is trying to undermine is the difficult situation in the Ukrainian energy sector. To this end, Russia will intensify its ‘black winter’ information campaign.
‘It is predicted that the enemy will increasingly spread narratives about the inability of the Ukrainian authorities to provide the population with light and heat in the autumn-winter period of 2024-2025, and will emphasise the impossibility of restoring the destroyed generation not only in the near future, but never at all,’ the CCD warned.
The third topic that the aggressor will emphasise is the difficult situation in the economy.
‘It is predicted that Russia will intensify its information campaign about the imminent economic crisis in Ukraine, spreading narratives about the allegedly high budget deficit, unbearable tax increases and the inability of the Ukrainian government to ensure economic stability. The goal of this campaign is to reduce trust in the Ukrainian authorities and sow panic among the population,’ the Center for Countering Disinformation noted.
