In the near future, Ukraine expects to receive the next tranche of EUR 4.2 billion under the Ukraine Facility programme from the European Union.

This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal during a government meeting.

In 2024, Ukraine will attract a total of EUR 16 billion from the EU under this programme.

"We are clearly on track to meet all the indicators. We are implementing all the reforms. We are adopting all the necessary changes. We have assurances from partner countries and international financial institutions that all external financing needs for this year will be met," the Prime Minister stressed.

Shmyhal also reminded that yesterday the state budget received $3.9 billion in non-repayable aid from the United States.

Overall, this year Ukraine expects to receive $7.8 billion in budget support from its American allies. He stressed that the funds from the partners are intended to help finance non-military budget expenditures. In particular, to fulfil the state's social obligations, to pay salaries to state employees, and to implement economic and humanitarian projects.

The Prime Minister explained that Ukraine finances the security and defence sector from domestic resources. All taxes paid by citizens and businesses from the central budget go exclusively to the Ukrainian army.
