The night strike on the airfield in Lipetsk hit warehouses where more than 700 combat aircraft were stored. Several dozen fighter jets and helicopters were also stationed there, LB.ua's sources in the Defence Forces said.

The drone strike was followed by a powerful explosion that caused a chain detonation and a large-scale fire in a large part of the airfield. Local authorities confirmed the detonation and announced the evacuation of residents of nearby settlements.

According to sources, most aircraft did not take off from the Lipetsk-2 military airfield.

"The SBU, in cooperation with the Defence Forces, continues to work methodically to destroy Russian aviation logistics so that the enemy does not have the opportunity to bomb Ukrainian cities with drones. In early August, we cleared Morozovsk airfield of UAVs and fighter jets, and today it's the turn of Lipetsk-2. We are working on it," said an informed source in the SBU.

  • At night, Russia was under massive attack. Evacuations were announced from some settlements in the Lipetsk Region located near the military airfield.
  • The General Staff confirmed the strike on the airfield in Lipetsk, as well as on enemy targets in the occupied territory of Donetsk Region.
