The head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, has said that Russia's participation in the second Global Peace Summit does not mean the start of negotiations with the Russians.
According to Reuters, the official believes that the goal of the upcoming summit is to create a joint peace plan, which will be handed over to a representative of the Russian Federation for review.
Work is currently underway to organise conferences on each of the ten points of Ukraine's peace plan. Yermak admits that there are difficulties in reaching a common global position on some of them, such as the complete withdrawal of Russian troops and the restoration of territorial integrity within the 1991 borders.
Ukraine, according to the head of the Presidential Office, would like the process to go quickly, but holding the second Peace Summit in 2024, as Kyiv wants, is not guaranteed: "There are conditions without which the summit cannot take place."
