During the forum Ukraine 2024. Independence forum, Ukraine has invested $7 billion in its defence industry.

According to him, it has managed to develop long-term planning. This is the Future force model, which will exist when Ukraine is in NATO. Short- and medium-term plans have also been developed, which allow for defensive, stabilisation and offensive actions.

According to the minister, work was also underway on fighting corruption, procurement and investment.

‘Agencies have been set up that work both in the logistics and defence procurement sectors. That is, lethal and non-lethal procurement. Together with the government and the Verkhovna Rada, we have invested in the defence industry. Our investments amount to more than USD 7 billion,’ Umerov said.

According to Umerov, these investments have provided a huge support when Ukraine was not receiving international technical assistance.

In terms of military technology, the MoD has invested in drones, electronic warfare, ground robotic systems, a unified register of conscripts and a situational awareness system.

In addition to Reserve+ and Army+, the Defence Minister hopes that Veteran+ will soon be created.
