Another FSB agent, an employee of the regional division of Ukrzaliznytsya, who was spying on the Defence Forces in the hottest area of the frontline - Pokrovsk, has been detained.
This was reported by the SBU and the Prosecutor General's Office.
From March to August 2024, the man, who wanted a quicker capture of the Region by Russian troops, periodically received tasks from the FSB. He collected and transmitted information about the consequences of missile strikes, the location of the Armed Forces personnel and military equipment, and the location of authorities and military command and control bodies in the Pokrovsk district.
First of all, Russians were interested in the coordinates of the strongholds and firing positions of the Ukrainian troops defending the city. Russian military also hoped to learn through their agent about the geolocation of key bridges used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the eastern front.
Russians planned to use the intelligence to prepare new military operations aimed at breaking through to the district centre. To gather intelligence, the agent travelled around the area and tried to get the information he needed from his colleagues in disguise.
He then compiled a "report" with a textual description and marks on electronic maps.
The SBU documented the traitor's criminal actions and detained him. The SBU seized the mobile phone he used to communicate with the FSB.
The SBU investigators have served the detainee a notice of suspicion under Part 2 Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law). The offender is in custody. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
