NATO member states will increase assistance to Ukraine.
This was stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg following a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council held in Brussels on 28 August, Radio Svoboda reports.
‘Allies have confirmed today that they are increasing military assistance to Ukraine. We must continue to provide Ukraine with the equipment and ammunition it needs to defend itself against Russian invasion. This is vital to Ukraine's ability to continue the fight,’ Stoltenberg said.
The meeting was held at the level of NATO ambassadors, with Ukrainian Defence Minister Rustem Umerov joining them via video link. NATO said that the meeting was called by Ukraine, and that they discussed the recent massive Russian airstrikes against Ukrainian civilians and infrastructure.
‘Minister Umerov briefed on Russia's latest air attacks, the combat situation in Donbas, and the objectives of the Kursk operation. He thanked the Allies for recent pledges of assistance and the F-16s that are in action,’ said the NATO diplomat, who was not authorised to speak to the media.
