82% of housing and communal facilities across Ukraine are ready for the heating season. At the same time, the Prime Minister stressed that the autumn-winter period will be extremely difficult.
This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal in the Verkhovna Rada.
"According to the Ministry of Infrastructure, 82 per cent of housing and communal facilities are currently ready for the heating season. In the rear regions, these figures are slightly higher, and in the frontline areas they are slightly lower. For example, in Zaporizhzhya Region, 79 percent, the lowest indicator is in Kherson Region - 54 percent of readiness," the Prime Minister said.
The Head of Government also added that enterprises need additional equipment and additional funding.
"There are funds in the budget for the Recovery Fund today, and we are also financing measures from the reserve fund. Just a week and a half ago, additional funds were allocated for Burshtyn and Dobrotvor, which lost their heating facilities, and appropriate thermal power plants are being built there to keep these towns warm in winter. This is just one example," said Shmyhal.
In addition, Ukrainian cities and enterprises need an additional 423 units, 300 cogeneration units and 300 block-modular boiler houses.
‘The main focus was on Kharkiv and Kharkiv Region to provide such equipment," he added.
As for the protection of energy facilities: "As of today, the government has financed almost more than UAH 10 billion for protection, and Ukrenergo has financed more than UAH 5 billion separately to create the appropriate protection. The readiness of Ukrenergo's facilities is more than 85 per cent, while the readiness of the Agency's facilities is somewhat lower, but the work is ongoing and, accordingly, there is relevant information on each facility," the Prime Minister added.
