Forbes, analysing the situation on the frontline in Donetsk Region, claims that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are conducting local counterattacks near Pokrovsk.

Despite the Russian outnumbering, which in some places reaches four to one, and the continuation of the Kursk operation, which involves battalions from about 8 brigades, the Defence Forces managed to keep in reserve about 4-5 brigades of 2,000 soldiers each with hundreds of pieces of equipment with high combat capability.

This made it possible to conduct counter-offensives in certain parts of the frontline, which deprived the Russian army of some positions. According to Forbes, the greatest success was achieved near Selydove. However, the Western publication does not predict dramatic changes and a turnaround in favour of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

According to the journalists, the stabilisation of the situation at the expense of the reserves indicates that the opinion of a large part of Ukrainian observers is wrong. They attributed the retreat east of Pokrovsk to the lack of fortifications, not to the insufficient number of personnel.
