The Netherlands is providing Ukraine with air-to-air missiles that can be used by F-16 fighters to defend Ukraine's airspace. The allies are also providing equipment and materials for F-16 maintenance.
This was stated by Defence Minister Ruben Brekelmans during a meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine's Defence at Ramstein Air Base in Germany.
"F-16s need technical support and spare parts. They cannot fly without it. The Netherlands is supplying materials worth 80 million euros. In addition to a large number of spare parts, this includes generators, small vehicles, basic maintenance materials, special tools and ladders. With the help of air-to-air missiles, Ukraine can shoot down enemy aircraft," the minister said.
However, the minister did not specify the number and types of missiles. Brekelmans also did not specify the planned timeline for the delivery of the weapons.
The results of Ramstein in Germany:
- The US announced a new $250 million military aid package for Ukraine.
- Canada will provide Ukraine with 80,840 CRV-7 rocket engines and 1,300 warheads.
- Germany will provide 12 Panzerhaubitz 2000 self-propelled artillery systems worth €150 million and 77 Leopard battle tanks.
