Canadian Defence Minister Bill Blair said during a meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine's Defence in the Ramstein format on 6 September that Canada would provide Ukraine with 80,840 CRV-7 missile engines and 1,300 warheads.

This was stated in a statement by the Government of Canada.

In particular, Minister Blair said that Canada would provide Ukraine with 80,840 additional CRV-7 rocket engines and 1,300 warheads.

"An additional 80,840 rocket engines are being prepared for shipment to Poland and will arrive in the coming months. The decommissioned missile engines were previously used by the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) on CF-18 fighters. Canada will also provide 970 C6 machine guns, as well as 10,500 9mm pistols from our inventory," the statement said.

In response to Ukraine's request, Minister Bill Blair also announced that Canada would donate the decommissioned chassis of 29 M113s and 64 Coyote LAV armoured personnel carriers previously used by the Canadian army. These vehicles are no longer in use in the Canadian armed forces, and will be repurposed or used for spare parts in Ukraine.

It is also known that the first group of Ukrainian fighter pilots arrived in Canada earlier this week for training on F-16 fighter jets.

The minister noted that the pilots' training is funded by $389 million from Canada.

"As the lead nation in the Ukraine Air Force Capacity Building Coalition, Canada has committed to this training over the next five years," Blair said.

Canada will also provide critical equipment and other support to Ukraine's air bases and navy to enhance their defence of Ukraine's airspace. This includes maintenance equipment, defence projectiles and air force runways.

According to the minister, training an F-16 pilot is a very long process, so there is a range of training that needs to be completed.

"Canada is taking more of a lead role, and we have agreed to train these pilots in Canada, basically the initial flight training and the pilot training that will be required. This is a five-year plan," the Minister explained.
